FAQ

1. Why is the actual output sometimes lower than 100W?

The 100W rating is measured under Standard Test Conditions (STC): ideal sunlight and temperature. In real use, sun angle, heat, shading, wiring loss, and device efficiency affect output. So power below 100W is normal and does not indicate a defect.

2. Is this panel compatible with my 12V system?

Yes. It is suitable for 12V systems when used with a compatible charge controller. Please confirm your controller’s input specifications before purchasing.

3. What does “12V” mean in the product title?

“12V” means the panel is designed for use in a 12V system with a charge controller. It does not refer to the panel’s actual output voltage.

4. Can this panel directly power devices or charge batteries?

No. This panel must be used with a compatible charge controller or solar generator to regulate power before charging batteries or powering devices.

5. Does it come with mounting hardware?

No. Mounting hardware is not included. The panel is compatible with standard solar mounting systems.

Just got them hooked up today

Just got them hooked up today, not permanent but leaned against the wall just to use. I haven’t got them pointed correctly yet, but they produced 74 watts. Nice sunny day. I’m sure they will be better once they are properly installed. Topped off my Pecron and 12 v fld deep cycle battery I figured i can produce 4-500 wh a day just the way they are.

14 100 watt panels produced over 1400watts

Very happy with these panels so far. The aluminum frames are strong. I had to drill holes in them for my mounting location and the aluminum is thick

Awesome panels. Above expectation

These panels exceed my expectations, delivering more output than what they are rated for. There are days I got 870watts+, and some days got 967watts.
I like the small foot print, which fits my environment due to limited space. I have another solar diy project coming up, and will definitely get these as it’s working out quite well.

Exceeded Expectations

Callsun 100W Solar Panels — Exceeded My Expectations

I purchased 8 of these panels for my RV solar setup and have been genuinely impressed. Four are running through a Victron 100/50 MPPT charge controller paired with a 280Ah EcoWorthy 12V battery, and four are dedicated to my portable power station.

After three days of real-world testing in early March in Arizona, here's what I recorded:

- Day 1: 321W peak (partial day, panels installed late)

- Day 2: 383W peak (warm, clear sunny day)

- Day 3: 456W peak — on a *cooler, partly cloudy* day with intermittent sunshine

That third day blew me away. Getting 456W out of four 100W panels — surpassing the rated output — wasn't something I expected. Cooler temperatures improve panel efficiency, and my angle was optimized for the March sun, but either way this is a fantastic real-world result.

** Size is a standout feature:

Two Calsun 100W panels take up roughly the same roof space as one Rich Solar 150W panel, yet they outperform it. My Rich Solar 150W panels have never hit their rated output — these Calsuns beat theirs.

**Shade tolerance is better than expected.

When these panels are partially shaded, I still get measurable output. My older Rich Solar panel drops to zero in the same conditions.

**Build quality is solid.

The larger frame-to-panel ratio makes them noticeably sturdier than many larger panels I've used — a real advantage for mobile setups where vibration and handling are a concern.

I'm already planning to order another 8 panels to expand to a dual-battery, dual-controller system totaling 1,200W. If you're building an RV solar system and want maximum flexibility without sacrificing quality, these panels are hard to beat.

**Pros:

- Compact size maximizes roof layout options

- Exceeded rated wattage in real-world conditions

- Sturdy, well-built frame

- Strong shade tolerance compared to competitors

**Cons:

- None so far — will update after extended use

Nice panels, solid construction, compact, would recommend.

I bought these panels to add an additional string to my DIY home solar system which currently consists of 36 100W panels connected to two Pecron E3600LFP units each having two additional Pecron EP3000 batteries attached. We also will use the Callsun panels for camping. Today, 9/25/2025 at 12:26PM under clear sunny conditions at latitude 36.0039 North at around 72 degrees F., a string of 6 of these panels was producing 503 watts. This is about 84% of rated output under optimal conditions. The 6 panels are connected as 3S2P (3 panels in series connected in parallel with another 3 panels in series), and were producing 9.2 amps at 54.7 volts DC. Photos are attached. The rest of the panels in this system consist of 24 Harbor Freight #57325 and 6 HGST 100W monocrystalline panels. The output of the 6 Callsun panels under sunny conditions are approximately equal to the other 6-panel strings in my system, while being more compact. These panels measure 31.1 x 22.7 inches (706 sq. in.) as compared to the Harbor Freight panels which measure 36.5 x 27 (985.5 sq. in.) while producing about the same output. The only rigid-frame 100W panels that I have seen that come with built-in support legs are the Harbor Freight #57325. I wish other panels such as these Callsun panels came with such built-in legs. In this case, I used a U-shaped structure of 1/2" PVC pipe attached to each Callsun panel to support it at about a 30 degree angle. I like the panels and would recommend them, particularly for portable use due to their compact size while producing equivalent output to larger 100W panels. These are the 16 busbar (BB) design and my other panels are 5BB. I have not tried to compare outputs with various levels of shading on the these two types of panels to assess the purported advantage of 16BB.

Callsun Solar Panel installed on our Tacoma cap

Callsun goes above and beyond for customers. I highly recommend this company and this solar panel for the value and quality of the product and even moreso, the customer service. We purchased this solar panel for use on the cap of our tacoma truck to power a battery pack that runs a fridge and lighting for our overlanding set up. After having issues with output on the panel, we contacted Callsun for assistance. They responded back immediately with a few simple questions about our setup to answer, some troubleshooting advice and ultimately, they offered to replace the panel at no charge to us. The new panel arrived quickly and we installed it. Similar "issues" persisted. It turns out, the issue was with our battery pack, not the panels. We advised Callsun and offered to pay for the additional panel. They declined our offer for payment and just thanked us for communicating with them and giving our feedback. They offer outstanding technical assistance, timely responses, and clear communication. We would purchase from Callsun again in a heartbeat.

Not bad for the size.

they work fine. Did a lot of reviewing since these are the 16 bus bars and N type. Would definitely buy the bigger ones next time and not the small 100-watt panels. I will upgrade to the 200 watts. Power is important when charging. Get the bigger panels you wont regret it.

Great panel - 102 watts out of the box!

Nice, well built panel that produces. It was just delivered a couple hours ago, I laid it flat atop my fence and connected it to my solar generator and it’s producing 102 watts! Very pleased. So impressed with these panels I bought another one, along with some black tilt brackets. Now wired in series on a 30 ft 12guage wire I’ve gotten as high as 205 watts out the pair.

Great little panel

Great little powerhouse of a solar panel. I have this on my railing at the house to teach my kiddos about solar panels and energy consumption. These are the perfect size to throw around and teach the basics.

Wonderfully made solar panels

These put out all the power that the manufacturer says they do which is unusual. These are very functional. You can put them on a rack, mount roof, camper trailer, just the right size. They're mountable anywhere. They are great value for the money. I highly recommend getting some of these if you're going to go solar and you don't want to use portable solar panels

Crazy Fish
Compact solar panel with some punch

Solar panels are certainly getting smaller and better and this panel proves it. On a mid December day in the afternoon I was pulling 70-74 watts which is way more than I was expecting - and this was just propped up in the yard. This will certainly be pulling in the 90's on a better day and the right angle. Well made. Stated voltage at 22 and 4.4 amps seems on par. It's nice a small panel that packs the power of larger panels. It's mostly black with a solid black outer border. This is a very solid contender and certainly my favorite 100 watt panel I've tested so far.

Well-built good-looking panel with solid output.

The N-Type 16BB 100-Watt Solar Panel from Callsun is a well-made quality panel with solid output. Late in the day it was getting 91 watts, and it performed well recharging my power station. The panel looks great and has typical connectors that match all my other panels. I have an array with 20 panels and this panel performs equal to the top performers I currently have. Under excellent conditions you can expect to see the advertised 100 watts out of this panel and charge a small power station of 295-watt hours in about 3 hours. I connected this panel to another 100-watt panel in series with no issues.

The BEST 100W panel on the market

In the attached photos, The Callsun panel is the smaller panel. This is the 2nd N-Type 16 Bus Bar 100W panel I have tested and holy cow, this thing blew me away! for $100, at 100W it falls right into the $1 per watt range. This is by far the smallest 100W panel I have ever seen, I compared it to several other 100W panels I have and it blows every other panel away. I tested this at noon sun on a clear day (but in the winter). This panel held steady at 22.5V and about 4.4 amps (99W) when pointed directly at the sun. That is fantastic considering Winter sun isn't ideal for solar panels. The build quality of the panel is excellent, but where this panel completely defeats virtually every other panel is it's size. At 31" x 22.7", this panel takes up less space than literally every other 100W panel on the market. Considering this panel also delivers the advertised wattage in direct sun, I have to give the 1st place trophy to Callsun for this fantastic solar panel. The cost, the size, being able to hit the target wattage and the good build quality, This is the panel to buy.

Great compact 100W panel

I got this to add to my existing collection of panels for my various solar batteries. This one is smaller in size than some of my older ones which makes it easier to handle and store. Positive: Small, well build with aluminum frame with holes in back for mounting. I got 87W on a Winter day with wispy clouds blocking some sun, I'm confident on sunny summer day to get higher. Negative: Small issue is the connecting wires in back are not color coded, not even a red sticker on wire, does identify them where the wires come out of the panel. I prefer color coding. Not the cheapest 100W panel, as paying for compacter size.

Efficient for it's small size

I'm a solar enthusiast and I get excited when ever I get to review a solar item. This is the newer N-type with 25% efficiency and smaller dimension. Looking at the picture, you can see it's about 15-20% smaller. Smaller doesn't mean it's less outputs. I used my best MPPT which is my Anker Cube 1000. On a great sunny day, I get around 95 all day. If you're getting anywhere over 85% you're doing well for solar panels. I'm just amazed at how small and light this is compared to older 100w panels and still get amazing efficiency. Since it's so light, a great project would bind 2 of these with hinges and make a 200w suitcase out of it. Nice small and light to bring on your camping trip.
