Solar Crimper Tool Kit

This kit impressed me right out of the box. The crimping pliers have a nice weight to them that makes them feel like a quality tool rather than something cheaply made. The ratcheting mechanism works well and gives that positive click-and-release action that helps ensure a consistent crimp every time. It takes some of the guesswork out of the process and helps create secure connections.

The wire strippers are another highlight. They're sharp, cleanly remove insulation, and don't seem to nick the wire underneath. Everything feels well aligned and easy to use.

One feature I didn't expect to appreciate as much as I do is the set of plastic wrenches included with the kit. They're perfect for tightening couplers and connectors without scratching, gouging, or otherwise damaging the fittings. They feel surprisingly solid and are much nicer than trying to use metal tools on plastic components.

I also like that the kit comes organized with the necessary accessories in one package, making it convenient for both first-time installations and maintenance work. The tools feel durable, and the overall fit and finish are better than I expected.

Overall, this is a well-made kit with quality tools, reliable crimping performance, sharp wire strippers, and some genuinely useful extras. The included plastic wrenches alone are a great addition, and the entire package feels like a solid value.

I've got a bunch of solar parts and pieces and it seems like I'm always trying to put more stuff together. Getting this kit makes everything easier. The crimper is the most important part to make sure the MC4 connections are done right. It's not rocket science but having the right tool makes the difference. This crimper is good, not pro level but you'll need it and use it. The wire strippers are better than I was expecting at this price range. It comes with 10 MC4 connectors and two wrenches. Both are good quality but if you are doing more of these, get a metal wrench. It all comes in a nice zippered case to keep them all in one place. My only downside is that these are not the "quick disconnect" style. Those are super nice when testing but not so important when setting up a system for good.

If you're just starting putting solar panels, controllers and parts together, this will make you life much easier than trying to use the tools you have lying around. Get nice tight connections with this set. The price is certainly right.

The highlight is obviously the crimpers themselves. They feel solid, well built, and function very smoothly. The ratcheting mechanism is what really seals the deal for me, with a smooth and deliberate action that inspires confidence while using them.

I picked this up for a small solar setup project and it ended up being a pretty handy kit to have everything together in one case. This is a nicely put together stripping and crimping set. The strippers have a lock to keep them closed and it works well. They are sharp and easily strip a wide range of wire gauges. The crimper is comfortable to use and makes very tight , strong crimps. Everything is kept together inside of a nice zippered case. The zipper functions smoothly and the case has straps to keep everything organized inside. This kit is great for general electrical wiring , not just for solar. I use it for all of my wiring needs. Excellent set , very reasonable price.

Solid kit, all the way around. It didn't come with instructions, but the first video I found was featuring this exact model ! I'm not the handiest of guys, but even this was easy. I stripped a bit long on the one pic, and went back and taped around it. These are on my RV, so I can easily un hook, and store the panel. I went with 10 gauge, and glad I did, as the crispers do not accommodate 8 gauge. Very happy with ease of install, not frustrating in the least, and took no time at all.

I got this as we are trying to integrate solar into our energy grid. We have been happy with Callsun and, while this is a generic kit, we were most comfortable with this one. Mind you, most tools are generic and are simply rebranded so this is not a big deal. The most important component, the crimper is of good quality. It's the standard LY-2546B and it is beefy and solid, and, while not Knipex quality, the handle is ergonomic and comfortable. Pas mal! I am glad it came in the soft case, which comes with and holds everything you need neatly. It's a good kit. Note that instructions do not come with the kit so use or save the images on this page for reference.

I normally use 10 awg solar extension cables, or sometimes 12 awg for small panels with short runs. So this little kit is perfect for my needs.

I am surprised at what the cost difference can be if you purchase solar extension cables with both ends terminated, versus if you need to do the termination on one end yourself. And you want to have the right tools to strip the wire end cleanly, properly crimp the connector and tighten down the plastic connector housing.

And this kit gives you what you need, along with spare connectors in case you don't get one right, have to replace a malfunctioning one, or just have to cut off and replace cable ends so you can run the wires through a smaller ID.

Not a commercial grade set, but definitely gets the job done for a home enthusiast like me. And all towards that end of the electric company owing me money at the end of the year (which I have been able to accomplish for the last 2 years).

This kit has everything you need. The cutter stripper is great and the crimper works perfect in a ratcheting design. It also comes with a bunch of MC 4 connectors which also worked pretty well. I’m trying to crimp 12 gauge wire and that is a little bit small so putting the MC 4 connectors together was a little bit more difficult than if I was using 10 gauge wire. Either way the kit works great as it is and I highly recommend.

This is a competent set of tools for creating PV cables, with 10 pairs of MC4 solar connectors (male and female components) included.
The crimping tool has embossed markings at the crimper end that clearly show which part to use for each gauge of cable, for 10, 12, and 14 gauge wire. Likewise, the wire stripping tool has markings to clearly show indents for 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 gauge wire. It also has bolt cut offs for # 8 and #10 sizes. The tools have comfortable plastic covered handles. The crimper has a ratcheting mechanism that releases after the crimp is fully compressed.
The tools and connectors come in a nice zippered canvas storage pouch.
Since there are no instructions, it would be advised to consult YouTube videos for proper techniques of assembling and crimping MC4 PV connectors.
Using this tool is much more reliable than attempting crimping with pliers, and the resulting strength of the crimp will prevent electrical resistance and failure from connectors pulling off the wire.

This is a handy compact kit for DIY solar panel wiring install or repair. The wire stripper and crimper tools are decent and are adequate for home or casual use. They work well on the common gauges of wire (10-14awg) you would use on small to medium panel installs. The strippers are good down to 22awg. Of course most people who do solar or electrical work probably already have a set of these tools, but this set puts a dedicated set together for you in a case with not only the standard solar terminations, but the plastic connector tools as well. The little wrenches simplify tightening the connectors. It makes for a nice dedicated set to carry with you or to leave in your electrical kit. I really like the task dedicated project tool kits. It makes keeping up with tools much easier.

Actually a pretty decent set! The crimper is by no means the highest quality tool you will find, nor is the wire stripper, but they are perfectly adequate for the occasional project. The designs are pretty well engineered, and they feel solid mechanically. I've certainly seen much worse. This "kit" also includes a generic (but perfectly useful) carrying case, as well as some plastic wrenches for tightening several variations of MC4 connectors. It's honestly worth buying just for solar projects, but the crimping die can also be swapped out to accommodate a range of other terminal types. If you really cram it in, you can fit the entire kit into the pockets of the included carrying case. Overall good value.

Easy to use fast shipping great fools to have

This kit has worked perfect when I was installing solar panels on my DIY camper. Comes with instructions so easy to use. So far the crimpers and connectors are holding up so they are made of a durable material. Every connection I made, had no connection problems so the connectors are working without issue. It creates a nice clean appearance in my wiring. If you are installing solar, definitely worth your money to get this kit.
